What is Blu-ray?
Blu-ray, also known as Blu-ray Disc (BD) is the name of a new optical disc format that is rapidly replacing DVD. The format was developed to enable recording, rewriting and playback of high-definition video (HD), as well as storing large amounts of data.
What is the difference between Blu-ray duplication and Blu-ray replication?
The difference is in the manufacturing process, Blu-ray replication uses the original master disc to create a glass master which in turn allows for a stamper to be made. This stamper is then used to create an exact replica of the master copy. Blu-ray Duplication on the other hand, refers to burning data onto a disk using a laser, as is done in home computing.
What is the capacity of a Blu-ray disc?
The Blu-ray format offers more than five times the storage capacity of traditional DVD's and can hold up to 25GB on a single-layer disc and 50GB on a dual-layer disc.
How much video can you fit on a Blu-ray disc?
Over 9 hours of high-definition (HD) video on a 50GB disc. Around 23 hours of standard-definition (SD) video on a 50GB disc
