Glass mastering
Part of the CD and DVD disc manufacturing process
that uses a laser (which is modulated by the data to be stored on
the disc) to expose areas of a photo-resist layer on a glass disc,
where the final pits are required. These areas are then developed
and the photo resist layer metallized so that stampers can be grown
by electroforming using this metal layer. The stampers are then
used for molding CD and DVD discs.

Hybrid
The use of two file systems (usually ISO 9660 and
HFS) on a single CD-ROM. The file system data, ie volume descriptors
etc, occupy different areas on the disc. Hybrid discs are designed
to be used on two different computer systems eg PC and Macintosh.
The disc will contain common data, accessible by both file systems
and data unique to only one system.

Indexes
Subdivision of each track of a CD or DVD-Audio.
Each track may, if necessary, be divided into sections of up to
99 indexes to provide more than 99 tracks per disc.

Inkjet printing
Inkjet printing is the typical and most common way
of printing onto CD-R and DVD-R media. The disc will be produced
at up to 2800 dots per inch, providing a very detailed image. The
process can be used to print a wide variety of images, including
a simple 2 colour logo or a more complex CMYK & White design.
In addition to this, all HDC inkjet printed CD-R or DVD-R discs
will be finished with a protective lacquer.

JakeBox
The JakeBox is an eco friendly packaging product. Its most significant characteristic is the folded "claw" that holds the disc, and in an eye-catching way unfolds itself, presenting the disc, lifting it up and making it easily accessible.
Standard JakeBox is either CD/DVD size. The standard Jakebox is printed with either a flat closed front panel, or a pocket to house a booklet. If you’re on a budget or need a quick turnaround you can order pre-printed Jakebox’s in black or white with an open window front panel. These can be branded to your requirements by inserting a card panel/booklet, which will be visible on the front.
The JakeBox can house a variety of inserts and booklets.
To create an impressive finish to the JakeBox, you can add the product into a full colour slipcase.
See CD JakeBox or DVD JakeBox for more details.

J-card
A J-card is a paper inlay/front cover for a slim-line
CD jewel case. This type of inlay is most commonly printed one sided,
then folded which gives it the J-shape to fit in to the slim spine
of the jewel case.

Jewel case
The Jewel Case is made of three plastic parts, the front, back and inside which is a removable tray and also holds the CD in place with a circular hub of teeth. The front and back are hinged together to form the casing which protects the CD from getting scratched. Our standard Jewel Cases are available in with white, black and clear trays but are also available in red and blue.
The standard Jewel Case holds one CD but other variations can store up to 6 CDs.
The Jewel Case can also house a variety of paper parts as the clear tray can be used for additional graphics. You can select from a one page insert to a 4 page booklet right up to a 32-page booklet. The back of the Jewel Case can hold an insert which is printed on one side with two spines.
See CD Jewel Case or DVD Jewel Case for more details.

JPEG, JPG
(Joint Photographic Experts Group) - JPEG files
work very similar to TIFF files. JPEG’s have the added benefit
of an optional file compression system which removes the least used
colours from the colour palette, making the file smaller. This can
create some small changes but they are not very noticeable (depending
on the compression rate).
